Stop Mesothelioma Raises $10,000 for Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization

January 4, 2012 - Stop Mesothelioma, a Facebook page created and sponsored by Levy Phillips & Konigsberg LLP ("LPK"), has raised another $10,000 for mesothelioma research and efforts to ban asbestos. This brings the current total to over $50,000 based on LPK’s pledge to donate $1 for every "Like" the page receives up to $100,000. LPK has donated the most recent $10,000 to the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization ("ADAO"), a leading non-profit organization dedicated to giving a voice to victims of asbestos-related diseases.

Founded in 2004 by Linda Reinstein and Doug Larkin, ADAO is an independent global organization committed to preventing asbestos-related diseases through education, advocacy, community, and collaboration. ADAO’s mission includes supporting global advocacy and advancing asbestos awareness, prevention, early detection, treatment, and resources for asbestos-related diseases. ADAO is exceptionally active and vocal in these undertakings, employing a variety of internet sites and social media forums to promote their cause and to foster solidarity with the worldwide community.

Linda Reinstein, president and co-founder of the ADAO, graciously accepted LPK’s donation, saying, “We are so appreciative of the support of firms like Levy Phillips & Konigsberg LLP. They understand that only two things can stop asbestos-related disease: a cure and the full ban of asbestos, and they have been generous enough to support ADAO in this shared plight.”

This year, the ADAO will host its 8th annual Asbestos Awareness Conference in Manhattan Beach, California, on March 30 and April 1, 2012. This event unites asbestos experts, patients and families all under the banner of increasing asbestos awareness and finding a cure.
