Linda Reinstein, Co-founder of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization ("ADAO"), is Stop Mesothelioma’s Advocate of the Month
March 14, 2012 - Linda Reinstein’s life took an irreversible turn in 2003 when her husband Alan was diagnosed with mesothelioma. After bravely fighting this asbestos-related cancer, Alan died in 2006. Linda has transformed her personal mission to find answers into a global battle against the asbestos industry.
In 2004, Linda co-founded the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (“ADAO”), an independent global organization committed to preventing asbestos-related diseases through education, advocacy, community, and collaboration. ADAO is exceptionally active and vocal in these undertakings, employing a variety of internet sites and social media forums to promote its cause and to foster solidarity with the worldwide community.
Linda is a recognized authority on asbestos-related issues. She has testified as a witness before Congress, the Department of Labor, the British House of Commons, the American Public Health Association, as well as the United Nations. She has traveled the globe in her efforts to ban asbestos worldwide, speaking to audiences in the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Japan, China, India, and Thailand.
Linda is a powerful and forceful advocate. But it is her compassion for others that can be felt almost immediately upon meeting her. Linda feels deeply for people and families affected by asbestos-related diseases. It is this compassion that drives Linda to take action in the name of those harmed by asbestos and to prevent future generations from suffering harm.
Stop Mesothelioma, a Facebook page created and sponsored by Levy Phillips & Konigsberg LLP ("LPK"), is proud to honor Linda Reinstein as Advocate of the Month for March 2012. LPK partner and trial lawyer Jerome H. Block, stated: "Linda Reinstein is a force. Anyone who is concerned about asbestos should get to know Linda and the ADAO. She is a friend and ally to the entire community that is working hard every day to get asbestos banned. We are thankful for her leadership." This year, the ADAO will host its 8th annual Asbestos Awareness Conference in Manhattan Beach, California, on March 30 and April 1, 2012. This event unites asbestos experts, patients and families all under the banner of increasing asbestos awareness and finding a cure. LPK is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of the conference.
LPK is a national law firm that has represented families affected by mesothelioma for more than 25 years. For more information, please call 1-800-637-6529.
