BENZENEThe toxic effects from exposure to Benzene have been documented for over 100 years. By the mid 20th century, the American Petroleum Institute declared that there was no safe level of exposure. Today, despite overwhelming evidence of the dangers of this hazardous chemical, many industries, including petrochemical companies, oil refineries and chemical, paint, pesticide and tire manufacturers still use benzene in the workplace. Other occupations associated with benzene exposure include printers, leather manufacturers, aircraft and auto mechanics, painters, shoe manufacturers and laboratory workers.
Benzene is easily absorbed into the bloodstream and even the slightest exposure can lead to potentially fatal blood disorders including Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL), Aplastic Anemia and Multiple Myeloma.
Levy Phillips & Konigsberg, LLP has been a leader in representing those who have suffered from serious health problems brought on by benzene and other toxic chemicals. In almost every case, the devastating health effects were due to someone else's negligence. If you suffer from diseases linked to benzene exposure, you may be entitled to compensation.
