Class Action Lawsuits
Class action lawsuits are one of the most powerful tools that individuals have in order to fight large corporations and institutions whose actions have caused an adverse effect on a great number of people. They promote a collective consumer market filing as a unit against a large corporation to achieve a common goal.
Whether it is a large case of credit card fraud, job discrimination, chemical exposure, or consumer fraud, filing a class action lawsuit allows people with similar claims to combine their efforts into one lawsuit. One or more of the claimants representing the group at large and if the case is brought to a successful conclusion, money damages are distributed among the group members.
An example of a largest case type of credit card fraud is when credit cards charge premiums in excess of the benefits. Benefits should typically be 50% of the premiums, but in this case only 5% of the premiums were represented in the benefits. One consumer reported this case of credit card fraud to our consumer fraud lawyers and we were able to file a class action lawsuit and collect on behalf of the entire consumer market.
The complexities of a class action lawsuit demand an extremely high level of knowledge and expertise as well as a thorough understanding of the unique procedures required by law. Levy Phillips & Konigsberg, LLP has the resources to fight against the corporate giants on behalf of its clients and a proven track record of winning some of the highest monetary awards in the country.
